Team Behind the Scenes: Meet Tyler Conroy
Aldrich Wealth has been growing, and not just its assets under management. In the last few months, the team has expanded significantly to include several new faces. We recently sat down with Financial Planner Tyler Conroy to discuss what he enjoys doing in and outside of the office. Read on to learn more about two of our newer employees.
AW: Let’s start with something easy – how would you describe your job to someone that doesn’t know anything about the work you do?
Tyler: As a financial planner, I help people create a road map for their financial lives. The financial plans are incredibly customized, which is unique to Aldrich. Many components go into our plans, including cash flow, retirement savings, and education savings analyses. We want to articulate the big picture strategy and how the different pieces fit together to create the most successful probability of the client achieving their set goals.
AW: It sounds like you’re both afforded opportunities to practice some creativity in your roles. Could either of you speak to specific aspects that set Aldrich Wealth apart from the pack?
Tyler: One of the big reasons I choose to work at Aldrich over other RIA firms is because of the holistic service model. A lot of other RIAs focus only on wealth management, but Aldrich looks at the whole picture. We aren’t just looking at a client’s stock and bond allocations. We are also taking into consideration tax planning and estate planning, which are often missed by other RIAs. I wanted to work somewhere where I knew they were fully servicing their clients’ needs.
AW: What aspect of your job do you find most fulfilling?
Tyler: At heart, I’m an educator. I enjoy teaching people. I appreciate sitting with clients that value what we do and are receptive to learning more about their finances. As financial planners, we have the opportunity to help people expand what they view as possible for their future, which is exciting.
AW: If you had to give a 30-minute presentation on something, what would the topic be?
Tyler: I’m big into financial literacy. I think it’s vital, and statistics show that many average Americans aren’t well informed about how to make financial decisions. There’s so much confusion about where people should go for information. Once I’ve completed my CFP exam, I hope to get more involved with nonprofits and other organizations that help promote financial literacy to the average person. I’d love to give educational presentations on financial planning.
AW: What is a tool you really like, a productivity hack you use, or something else you highly recommend?
Tyler: I thoroughly enjoy podcasts, and I listen to them all the time. When I wake up, I like to listen to The Daily from the New York Times. It’s usually about fifteen minutes on a relevant news story, which helps keep me up to date. Then, I have a couple of other podcasts that I really enjoy and highly recommend: “Open Source” with Christopher Lydon and “The Ezra Klein Show” from Vox Media.
AW: Thank you both for speaking with me and sharing a little about what drives both of you. It’s a pleasure to hear the unique perspectives that help make the Aldrich Wealth team so insightful and effective.
