Strategies for a lifetime
As you accumulate wealth, understanding how taxes will impact your finances is critical to achieving your goals.
We use our in-depth expertise to minimize your tax liability and create a long-term tax plan that integrates into your overall financial picture. At the center of your tax plan is coordination with the other components of your financial life. Achieving the best financial result requires integration of tax strategies with your financial goals and investment strategy. Our team of experts from each discipline guides you at every decision point along the way.
Tax planning and filing
Effective tax planning allows you to keep more of what you’ve earned. Your plan includes both near-term and long-term strategies designed to maximize your after-tax returns. We believe tax services should be proactive and continue to have resources allocated to ongoing planning.
Our planning strategies identify different approaches based on your earning stage and whether you’re having a high-income year versus a transitional or lower-income year. We consider tax bracket management, the method of either raising or reducing income to smooth out peaks and valleys and take advantage of more favorable tax rates. This can maximize after-tax results over the course of a lifetime.
Retirement draw-down strategies
We also help you determine which accounts to draw from during retirement. This kind of big-picture planning allows you to plan accordingly for potential quarterly tax payments.
We offer year-end planning to consider any opportunities before the close of the year. Even for clients who have been with us for years, there may be one-time events that lead to unexpected planning opportunities. In addition, we review estimated and actual capital gain distributions for clients with taxable accounts. Capital gain distributions vary year by year and by fund.
Tax law changes
With tax reform and continual revisions to state and local tax rules, there are new and old planning opportunities. In this changing tax atmosphere, we’re watching for changes and regularly check our projections to see if any new strategies should be implemented sooner rather than later.
Annual tax compliance is required by law, but we continue to work on your behalf even after your tax return is filed. Rather than accept the result on your tax return, we actively seek opportunities for you to achieve your best tax outcome.

CLIENT SUCCESS STORY
Christine is a highly compensated corporate executive at a large, local firm. She initially came to us to discuss strategies for reducing her tax liability.
Tax bracket management
Through strategic tax planning, we were able to recommend a strategy that allowed her to defer a large portion of her compensation into her employer's deferred compensation plan. Paired with a strategy for exercising specific stock option grants each year, this provided her with money for living expenses while also allowing her to carefully manage her tax bracket.
